The above quotes are from “The Power of Now” by Eckhart Tolle.
I found the synchronicity of when I decided to finally crack it remarkable. I bought it half a year earlier and carried it around Nepal, back to Canada, back to Nepal, then Thailand, and finally in Laos when I felt I was stepping into the threshold of a deeper perception…BOOM. BOOK. And the incredibly beautiful people who were surrounding and reading similar books while laying on our floor mattresses within our mosquito net cocoons swapping ideas and quotes all dazed and in awe at :::THE UNIVERSE:::
The words felt like life with its skin pulled back and flesh of reality exposed.
It is hard to put into words the way this book helped who I am transcend. For a while my ego ruled my being, fouling conversations to end in defensiveness or judgement. I knew everything and was the guardian for all that was right (left) in the world. I was depressed over the state of humanity and our planet and all the shit going to shit from the selfish people mucking it up for the rest of us. Ego. Ego. Ego. I had no idea my own unhappiness was a part of the muck.
We look for everything to be complex. We don’t need anything. We are searching for happiness in degrees, jobs, money, sex, alcohol, relationships, Fridays.. nothing will make us happy. No thing will make us happy. Nothing will make us happy. When there is nothing to be sought for happiness we become at peace, and when we are at peace we find our own inner joy.
I remember while on the 18 hour bus into Laos my friend Rowan saying, “It is the hard that is easy and the easiness that comes so hard”
It can be easy. Now.

"We are at a time when people have lost faith in our institutions. At this time, public artists can serve a powerful political function - not political in the old sense of the term, but in the true sense of the term. Nobody trusts government officials, corporate leaders, bankers, religious leaders anymore. At least with an artist, you know that they actually made you feel something, or think something. We need to see a rise of alternative institutions that support a new politics, a new social model. Inspired public artists - and other cultural influencers - can lead the way."
